Nearly half of the country's digital users were victims of a cyberattack or identity fraud during 2025 and in the first months of 2026.
On the other hand, fraud prevention by banks and companies fell from 83% to 40% in just one year, in a context where artificial intelligence is gaining ground, these data tend to be very important, according to a study prepared by CertiSur.
The study adds that phishing or identity spoofing is the most reported type of scam through WhatsApp, with 31%. Email scams and phone calls follow.
On the user's part, 48% adopted new security measures, and 17% stopped operating certain platforms.
The most commonly used preventive measures are password changes, blocking unknown files, and SMS verification.
Specialists maintain that artificial intelligence accelerates digital transformation, but it also changes how criminals operate with increasingly sophisticated attacks, and in that sense digital security takes on a strategic importance.
